4-H Public Presentations Workshop (Otsego County)

  • Saturday, January 6, 2018, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

This will be an interactive workshop for 4-H youth to learn the basics of public presentations. Participants will become familiar with all five Public Presentation categories: demonstrations, illustrated talks, speech, recitation, and dramatic interpretation. The focus will be for beginners, but the information on the categories will be helpful for all.

Public speaking is one of the most important life skills 4-H members learn in 4-H! To most people, the thought of preparing a speech and delivering it to an audience is terrifying. However, 4-H youth members throughout NYS, as well as the country, have an advantage in public speaking. 4-H members develop and practice their speaking and communication skills through a 4-H program called 4-H Public Presentations. 4-H Public Presentations teaches youth how to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas. Youth that learn how to express their thoughts clearly to the people they interact with on the job, in school, or at home will be a more valued employee, a better student, and a more understood family member. 4-H alumni credit 4-H Public Presentations as the edge that places them above their peers in both college and professional careers.

4-H Leaders and Parents, ENCOURAGE your 4-H members to participate in 4-H Public Presentations!!

Registration deadline for members is December 29.
