In February 2015, Dr. Mike Baker, Cornell Extension Beef Specialist, presented to local producers the concept of collaborative marketing by pooling larger lots of calves of similar type, size, and quality for a tele-auction sale.
Since December 2015 and every fall and spring ince, the group has produced five tele-auction sales. Prices obtained matched leading markets in the region. To date, sixteen producers from seven counties have sold to nine different buyers.
The next CNY Beef Producer Sale (tele-auction) will be Friday, December 7, 2018. December 15 will be the cattle pick-up date.
Calves will be graded and video recorded approximately three weeks prior to sale for accurate description. Cattle are Beef Quality Assurance certified and vaccinations are administered subcutaneously. Steers are properly castrated and heifers guaranteed open.
