Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Master Gardener Volunteers of Otsego County will lead children ages 7 to 11 in making a gift for mom. This free workshop, Seed Starting Workshop for Children, will be conducted on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Cornell Cooperative Extension Education Center, 123 Lake St., in Cooperstown. While making the gift, Kim L’Heureux and Pati Grady will demonstrate how to plant seeds like an expert, including sunflowers, pumpkins, nasturtiums, and morning glories. Which one is mom’s favorite?
Get hands in the dirt and develop a green thumb. Participants will also make a mini-greenhouse out of gallon milk jugs. Please bring a clean gallon milk jug (or water jug) for the mini-greenhouse, and, if possible, bring a spare to share.
A parent or responsible adult must stay with the child during the program. The program is free, but space is limited. Pre-registration is required. The deadline for registration is noon on Friday, May 10.
For more information or to pre-registering for the event, call CCE at 607.547.2536 Ext.0 or use our online registration.
