Welcome to Family Farm Day - Rain or Shine!

This will be our 5th Annual Family Farm Day (and year two for Otsego County farms), Saturday, August 12, 2017.

We have something new and exciting this year.  We are collaborating with a program called Trails to Tales (, a dynamic, responsive website with an interactive map and trails feature that identify local attractions, including historic sites, recreational facilities, artistic, cultural and agricultural points of interest. In this case, it will highlight all farms participating in Family Farm Day (FFD) in Schoharie and Otsego Counties.

The Trails to Tales website and augmented reality mobile application showcases stories, photographs, artwork and more about the region by the people who live, work and play in the region.

As for FFD, each year hundreds of families and friends discover a host of farm and forest products at participating farms, numerous farmers’ markets (and one online market) throughout the two counties. All of them are well prepared to assure that everyone has an exciting day. Enjoy tours, rides, activities, samples, and the opportunity to be close to farm animals where available. Most importantly, and likely the most rewarding, will be the time you take to get acquainted with some of our talented and resourceful farmers.

Once again visiting hours will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., so be sure to use the new 2017 Farm Guide (available by July 1 in print and online) to help you navigate to the farm(s) of your choice. Additional Farm Guides are always available at all participating farms and farmers’ markets. Be sure to bring a cooler or insulated bag to take home delicious, local, farm-fresh products purchased throughout the day. Pet owners, please leave them home.

FFD is collaborative effort among Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego Counties, Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce, Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, Schoharie County Tourism, Otsego County Tourism, Schoharie and Otsego County Farm Bureaus, and our participating farms. FFD is made possible at no charge to visitors by our participating sponsors. Please acknowledge their role by supporting their businesses. We’re looking forward to another great day!
