Invasive Species Workshop and Hike Planned for Schoharie River Center

Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego Counties (CCE) is collaborating with the Schoharie River Center to host a workshop on invasive species on Saturday, December 2, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The workshop will take place (rain/snow or shine) at the Schoharie River Center facility, 2025 Burtonville Road in Burtonsville, NY, a few miles north of the intersection of Routes 20 & 30 in Esperance.

This workshop will focus on the identification and control measures of the accelerating invasion of plant and aquatic species in Central NY. The preliminary classroom session and field walks will be led by Dan Snider, Field Projects Manager for Catskill Regional Invasive Species Program (CRISP), located at the Catskill Center in Arkville, NY. Dan will be accompanied by Marilyn Wyman, Natural Resources Issue Leader at the CCE Agroforestry Center in Acra, NY.

The workshop is free and open to the public with an emphasis on land and forest owners, master gardeners, and especially middle and high school students. Space is limited; pre-registration is required by Thursday, November 30.
