DUE TO CONCERNS REGARDING THE CORONAVIRUS, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED 


Sponsored by the Department of Animal Science, Cornell University, H.A. Willman Fund, and the New York State Fair.  Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. in the Lobby of Morrison Hall.  

General Session will be held in Room 146 Morrison (Auditorium) at 9 a.m. 

General Session followed by rounds beginning in all four rooms.

There will be two senior rooms and two junior rooms in play for the competition.

For Your Information

• Campus Store is open from 12:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M

• You will need to bring or make your own lunch arrangements (Lunch will be provided to contest officials only) 

• Dairy Store is Open 

• Contest Procedures with be done in Round Robin format. 

• Ten Rooms have been blocked at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, 1100 Danby Rd, Rte. 96B, Ithaca NY 14850 for this animal Science event for the evening of April 23, 2020. The rate is $139 per room and included breakfast. Ask for room block "Dairy Bowl "when you call the hotel (607-256-1100). For tax exempt status with these rooms, you must work through your county 4-H offices.  The block of rooms will be held until March 31.

​The Primary Objective

The primary objective of 4-H Dairy Bowl Contests is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in a 4-H dairy project to demonstrate their knowledge of dairy related subject matter in a competitive setting where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. The Dairy Bowl Program is designed to encourage youth to increase their dairy knowledge through study and preparation for the contest. Youth learn life skills as they prepare for contests - critical thinking, decision-making, problem solving, communication skills, listening skills, speaking skills and independent thinking. They experience the value of teamwork, character building, and goal setting. Youth gain knowledge in dairy nutrition, milk quality, herd health, breeding and genetics, marketing, dairy foods, calf raising and all cattle breeds.
