Beans, Beans, Beans: Growing a Variety of Different Beans in Upstate New York

  • Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

True to her name, Master Gardener, Fiona Dejardin has been gardening since she was a child—and that is a long, long time. She loves to grow vegetables and so it should be no surprise that some years ago, she started growing more than just the inevitable green bush bean. Even though, as her husband often points out, dried beans are not that expensive in the grocery store, she continues to experiment with a variety of fresh, shell and dried beans.

The National Garden Bureau has designated 2021 The Year of the Garden Bean, this timely and fascinating presentation explains the process of growing beans, the harvesting of a variety of garden beans, the challenges, and ultimately the joy of growing your own beans so that you can eat them all winter long.
