New Farm Manager Skills Day - Get the Tools You Need to Grow Your People

Moving from being an individual contributor to overseeing and directing the work of other people can be a big change. Let us help make it easier. Join Liz Higgins of the Eastern NY Commercial Hort Team, Raevyn Saunders of the Central NY Dairy Livestock and Field Crops Team and Kelley Doolin of CCE Schoharie County for a one-day program to practice skills and make connections that can help you in your role as a supervisory farm manager.

• Becoming a manager (skills specific to managing others)
• Giving feedback and communication - embrace your role as a coach
• Resources for Farm Managers and Employers (Cornell Ag Workforce Development, NYS DOL, NYS Ag Mediation)
• Onboarding new employees - tips for getting new workers off to a good start
• Your responsibilities as a manager (legal and ethical) and dealing with challenges

After the program attendees will have access to a shared message group to help you connect with each other for support during the season. Lunch will be included.

This program draws from the Cornell Ag Workforce Development Ag Supervisory Leadership Certificate Program.
