  • Wednesday, August 12, 2026, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego Counties invites community members to join Master Gardener Volunteers and local herbalist Gert Coleman for an engaging, hands-on workshop on harvesting and preserving culinary herbs.

Participants will learn how to properly harvest, process, dry, and store herbs to maximize their flavor, potency, and shelf life. The program will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the CCESO Grow Garden, 123 Lake Street, Cooperstown, NY.

Coleman is a respected herbal educator, writer, gardener, editor, and lifelong herb enthusiast. She has taught informative and entertaining programs for audiences of all ages at parks, museums, and conferences throughout the region. Her extensive experience includes helping maintain a 70-by-70-foot colonial herb garden for three decades, apprenticing with renowned herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, and compiling and editing five Herb of the Yearâ„¢ books. Coleman also writes about the legends, lore, and poetry of herbs and leads nature-writing workshops in the wild places of New York and beyond.

No previous gardening experience is necessary, and gardeners of all skill levels are welcome.

Space is limited. Please register by Wednesday, August 11, 2026, by visiting www.cceschoharie-otsego.org.
