Land Valuation Webinar

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County for a webinar on Monday October 7th starting at 5:30pm for landowners and farmers focused on how to value your land and easements. Understanding how to value your agricultural land for a potential sale, whether for another generation to start farming or for another purpose can be challenging. There are many variables, and it can be difficult to take personal feelings and history out of the equation. Additionally, understanding what programs may be available to not only conserve your land for the future, but also encourage biological diversity and address potential environmental concerns can be overwhelming to sift through. Our program hopes to address both of these points!
Our first speaker, Rebecca Stone, a certified land appraiser specializing in agricultural land will speak on the land appraisal process, how to value your land, and the easement process. Rebecca hails from Central NY, graduated from SUNY Cobleskill and worked as an appraiser for USDA before going into the private sector. She has worked in this space for over a decade and has experience with all types of farming operations and models of ownership. We'll also hear from the Upper Susquehanna Coalition regarding available programs for landowners and farmers relative to land conservation and encouraging biological diversity. We’ll be joined by Wendy Walsh, the Watershed Coordinator for the USC, who has many years of experience The NY Farmland Finder website will also be highlighted as an opportunity to list your land for interested farmers to find.
