SNAP-Ed New York – New Name, Same Mission!

Previously known as Eat Smart New York, the introduction of our program’s new name, logo, and resources brings an opportunity for consistency and impact across New York State.

Along with our new program name, we are excited to announce the launch of our statewide website, www.SNAPEdNY.org – a one-stop destination for providing those in need with the tools to shop for and cook healthy meals while on a limited budget. The new website is designed with the current times in mind, providing low-cost recipes, simple cooking videos, interactive lessons and tons of ways to save time, save money and eat healthy.

COVID-19 has had a long-lasting impact for so many members of our community. It’s important to know that SNAP-Ed New York teams across the state are here to help you. Our website features monthly recipes that are simple, low cost and easy to make. Recipes can be printed or downloaded with a full shopping list to make life a little bit easier.

Our region’s local landing page on the SNAP-Ed New York website features resources, events and classes, success stories, and more that are unique to the local communities served by our Southern Finger Lakes team. We are excited to continue to work with many to make the healthy choice the easy choice – Visit our new site and explore how we can help you and your family today!

Join Us for FREE workshops and classes

Join us for a FREE one-time workshop-- or a few classes -- that will help you learn to fill your grocery cart and dinner table with healthy and inexpensive foods. Our nutrition educators will help you learn about cooking, meal planning, healthy food shopping on a budget, nutrition, food safety, weight control and physical activity, and much more.

You’ll learn:

  • to prepare easy, good-tasting, low-cost meals in minutes.
  • to spend less time at the grocery store and buy healthier food with your money and SNAP benefits.
  • to make healthy meals and snacks that children will love
  • to plan meals, prepare and store food safely, and use less salt, sugar, and fat when you cook.
  • to read and understand food labels.
  • to make healthy lifestyle changes part of every day.

Classes meet at Cooperative Extension and other places in the community like food pantries, libraries, or schools. Call us to find a class near you!
